![]() Most of its extensive range of tanks and armoured cars are maintained in working condition. It was opened to the public in 1988 and is one of the largest privately owned military Museum in the United Kingdom. The Muckleburgh Military Collection is sited on the former Royal Artillery Anti-Aircraft training camp at Weybourne on the North Norfolk coast. With all that armor in one place I think that veteran may have given this museum its highest compliment. When the Museum is open you can call the Shop: 01263 588 284 On my trip I saw a grandfather talk about his military experiences to his family and a woman turned to me later and said this was the first time he had ever spoken about his GI days. The building is well lighted, heated and presentable with clean and accessible bathrooms. The docents don’t hover but are engaged and knowledgeable. There is no pretense in their overall presentation. To be part of that program requires reservations through their web site because they only run it once a month during good weather. The most unique part of this museum though is their armor experience program where they put you into GI gear and have you embedded in an armor column that gets ambushed in the “woods of France” near their building. They also have a rare Dragon Wagon that I think is the only operational one in the East. While their Sherman and Stuart tanks and half tracks have been there since they opened they have just gotten a rare Marine amphibious vehicle and staged a mock assault on a beach with reenactors. This museum never fails to impress and you never know what new armor they have recently acquired.
